This week AC Milan beat Liverpool 2-1 to win the UEFA Champions League final. There were some amazing goals in this years tournament. My favorites are #5 from Frank Lampard with shot/cross from an impossible angle, #3 from Roma's Mancini and #1 from Peter Crouch.
Enjoy.

FA Cup Final - Goal of the Week
With English Premier League wrapped up and Man U claiming the title. The only thing to settle between Man U and Chelsea was the FA Cup. Chelsea was seeking to duplicate its EPL success from previous seasons while Man U was looking to add another trophy for this campaign. Could the Blues finally do it at the rebuilt Wembley stadium?
Soccer is simple game, complicated by players. This game winner from Chelsea highlights the essence of simplicity and a skill set learned early in any players career. The goal is a one touch give and go between to stars in the EPL, either could have opted to try a more complicated move but they stuck with the basics and created a beautiful goal. The passing was masterful and finish was true and pure - highlighting accuracy before power. This simple piece gave Chelsea the elusive FA Cup crown they had been seeking. Enjoy.

America at Fulham
Fulham escaped relegation as the season ended today in the EPL, in large part to American Clint Dempsey's goal last week against Liverpool.
In December 2006, Fulham offered a £1.5 million transfer fee for Clint Dempsey, the most ever offered for a MLS player and MLS agreed the transfer fee.
The goal of the week show's Dempsey attacking the Liverpool defense to create something special - his first EPL goal. Clint dribbles at the heart of the defense and as Liverpool collapses on him he slides the ball to an open teamate on the wing with proper pace and placement. Clint continues to attack the goal and finishes the play for a goal. The goal highlights "accuracy before power". It is a so so strike but the result was a goal that had a huge impact on Fulham not being demoted, so look for the Cottagers next fall in the EPL. Clint should see more playing time and more goals!

Spring is in the air lets go Biking!
Spring is here so lets celebrate an amazing bicycle goal. A move made famous by Pele. Barcelona's modern day Pele, Ronaldinho, may not be pretty but the goals he scores sure are - here we see a lovely chip to R-10 where he chest traps the pass with a delicate touch and turns to drop the ball on his foot, a move that made the Goalie hesitate just enough to let the goal score. With cat like reflex's Ronaldinho performs an amazing bicycle goal. Players often try but seldom perform this with such grace and beauty (PHS #14). Enjoy!

Even in the EPL we can see top flight GK's lose concentration and focus to give up "horrific goals" as the announcer says and this is a prime example. The defender closes on the striker to reduce the angle, which provides a seemingly harmless shot right at the goalie, for an easy save ... wrong! This results in an easy goal for the Blackburn Rovers. Wonder why coaches always say take the shot when it is available.
