NEWARK, N.J. -- Claudio Reyna retired Wednesday. Reyna, who turns 35 on Sunday, had been bothered by various injuries this season which played a role in the decision.
"My mind and body together told me it was time," Reyna said during the announcement at St. Benedict's Academy, the prep school where he was a two-time national player of the year and super star.
"I'm very happy with my decision," he said. "Some people hang on and keep looking for another team. I didn't want to be that guy. There's not going to be any Bret Favre situation here,"
Claudio took American soccer to another level when he burst on to the scene. He will be missed.
